PRESS RELEASE
BROOKLYN (February 5, 2006) In the middle of the night in the city that never sleeps, indie-rockers Motion Commotion are remastering the noise. The four-member unsigned band, led by two up and coming recording artists at Ishlab Studios, are busy blending subway rides and sandwich shop conversations, the sounds of the Hudson, French street poetry and reflective lyrics on life and love into one mixed media rock symphony that they're planning to beam into as many iPods as possible.
"It's a lot like throwing everything together against a white wall, and drawing an experience out of it," says composer / violinist / piano man James Wolff, 23, a Brooklynite and former Kiss Kiss violinist who wants to bring the underground rock art gallery scene to the masses with art gallery show openings and events.
The voice behind each of those songs is composer / singer / guitarist Emanuel Ayvas, 22, a young veteran of the music biz who co-founded New Brunswick's The Virgins before recently graduating the University of North Carolina with a degree in composition and performance. Ayvas tries his best to escape New Jersey suburbia each night and join Wolff in the city to get their message out, coming home 7 a.m. through the Holland Tunnel when most other people are going to work.
"We don't sleep and neither does the music," said Ayvas, who joins Wolff carrying recorders and old-school boomboxes around Manhattan getting inspired and scaring any pedestrians who haven't gone to bed yet. "The music is a unique blend of classical, electronic, classic rock and indie, as well as an experimental usage of sound and visual arrangements. We've mushed it all together into a cloud of insanity."
Continually striving for the right cuts for their self-titled EP,
Motion Commotion have entered the mastering stage. The results are clear with tracks like the urban wax-poetic "Sunlite," and the multi-climactic "Make Love" that the band has come onto the scene with the knowledge and the heart to make music out of all the sound.
