About No Ka Oi

No Ka Oi
Is a positive statement in the Hawaiian language meaning: only the best. No Ka Oi is also the name of a band that currently plays out of South Florida. No Ka Oi has a style that is an infusion of reggae, rock, and originality that comes together to form a unique sound. The band started with Zack, Wade and Mike in Rocky Point, FL in 2000. Now, in 2005, the original members remain with new additions Josh, Matt, Keith, D.W., Chris, Criss, and George adding horns and percussion to what was originally a three piece band. Performances may or may not include some or all of the new members. No Ka Oi is more of a celebration than anything else and provides a group of friends and musicians with a social and artistic outlet and also with an opportunity to entertain the public. One unique aspect of the band is the variety of fans and listeners. When the guys get together we can fuse a sound and vibe so right that it can capture six year olds, make sixty year olds want to copulate and have inbred rednecks cooperate. The band is guided by the aloha spirit and the rightous emotions of reggae music and with this in mind they want to feel and see the love and positveness from all that comes out of the music. No Ka Oi plays at beaches, bars, local clubs and private bookings in their hometown of Stuart or other cities in Florida including Orlando, West Palm Beach, Jacksonville and Tampa. They have also been featured in a number or surf films from E.S.A, Pura Vida, and Da Hui / Wolf Pack videos. From the beginning, No Ka Oi has been joined with Stoke Surf Boards, Blazewood Skateboards (blazewood.com), Terra Tiki (terratiki.com) and has now recently hooked up with Jah Surf. Irie vibes abound in this band and the contagiousness of the music can be felt anytime they perform live.
